Anointed for the Ordinary

There is something holy about making your bed. About chopping vegetables and massaging oil into your thighs and whispering a prayer as do. For so long, I separated the spirit from the natural. I used to think worship only looked like lifted hands on Sunday morning in church. But now, I know that worship is a lifestyle and my lifestyle is the altar.

You don't need a pulpit to be anointed to spread the good news of Jesus. You can be anointed in your apron, office or yoga pants. You are anointed to live this life with grace, strength, softness and authority. This means when you are moisturizing your skin, you are stewarding the temple God gave you. When you say no to burnout and yes to rest, you're honoring God with your boundaries.

Most of us are waiting on the burning bush moment. You know - the giant undeniable sign that God is with you but more often than not, His presence is tucked inside the mundane. It's in the scent of the body souffle which reminds you of God's creativity. It's in the quiet moment after a long day when the world slows down and you are able to catch your breath. It's in your routines. Sacredness is not about performance, it's about perspective.

This month, I want you to anoint your day on purpose. Here's how:

  1. Pick a product (souffle, or oil).
  2. As you apply, speak out what you're anointed for that day.
  3. Say it loud: I am anointed to create. I am anointed to parent. I am anointed to lead. I am anointed to rest.

Let the fragrance remind you that you are already enough. Already empowered. Already chosen.

And finally, allow me to free your mind. You are not behind. You are being built. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is take a nap. Drink water. Go outside. Forgive yourself. Wash your face with intention. These are the moments when you're not just living - you're being loved by God in the every single day. You do not have to strive to be sacred, you just have to surrender. You ready?
